Lymphedema or Swollen Arm

Lymphedema, or swollen arm, may occur after modified radical mastectomy (breast and underarm lymph gland removal), axillary dissection (underarm lymph gland removal) or underarm Radiation Therapy.

Preventing Lymphedema

You are at risk for lymphedema if you have had surgery or radiation to your lymph glands. Follow these guidelines from Ohio State University to prevent lymphedema.
